I am a dressage rider and British Dressage Recognised Coach based near Helston where I run a small livery and training yard.

I have much experience of producing horses up through the levels having worked for several International Grand Prix riders before moving to Cornwall. My current horse Jerry is working at medium/advanced medium and my aim is to compete him at small tour level.

My focus as a coach is predominantly on the basic way of going, rider position and effectiveness. I am happy to teach riders of all levels from beginners upwards and am an empathetic trainer, focused on your needs. I have helped riders achieve their goals at the Area Festival, Inter County Challenge, Regional Championships and Home International.

I am available for lessons at your yard or mine where I have a super 20 x 60 sand and fibre arena.

Lesson prices £30 for 45 minutes plus travel depending on location.

I have been having regular weekly lessons with Tess on my home bred youngster for just under a year, since I had my first sit on the lunge! I have known Tess since working at a yard near PZ and when I was finally in the position to get some lessons on my own and my clients horses there was no one else i wanted to ask!
Since having the lessons with Tess her attention to detail has not only helped my young horse get it right from the beginning but I can use her knowledge and expertise and apply it in my other rides! Tess has such an huge amount of experience and knowledge and knows the importance of getting the basics right. The horses welfare and comfort is of the highest priority and her teaching style makes everything understandable, easy and fun!
I love having my lessons and very rarely cancel them even in the Cornish weather because I learn so much every time and look forward to the next one!

Six months ago, I’d lost all enthusiasm for any flat work or dressage. I’m very lucky to have an arena at home, but I couldn’t bare to ride in it. I have a lovely horse that I felt like I was wasting and the thought of going out to do a dressage test was a definite no! My horse was sticky, weak and my canter transition was non-existent.
I’d had a few lessons over the years with Tess and really enjoyed them. So, I contacted Tess again. Fast forward since months and I haven’t looked back, Tess was definitely the boost I needed. The first few lessons with a new instructor were hard and I felt like I couldn’t ride, but Tess has great patience and really took the time to get to know us both. We’ve achieved a lot in a short time.
The improvement in my riding position, confidence and canter is brilliant and the difference in my horse is so lovely to feel and see. He’s stopped bunching up and we’ve really got him moving forward. He has much more stamina and he’s much stronger. But best of all I’m enjoying my horse, arena and riding again, and I’m definitely going to go out and ride a dressage test this year!
Tess is great trainer and rider; I highly recommend her!

We have been having lessons with Tess for a two years now and I can highly recommend her. I have really benefitted so much from returning to basics and our lessons have done wonders, both for me and Thumbi. Tess has a wonderful teaching style, she is really patient and knowledgable and we always come away feeling so much more confident and able. She has also given me the confidence to go out and do some competitions too, and in doing so, taken some of the stressage out of dressage! Thank you so much Tess, for all you do.

I’ve been training with Tess for almost 2 years and the improvement in both myself and my horses way of going is phenomenal. Tess is so thorough with getting the basics right whilst making it fun. Tess has a wealth of knowledge and explains everything in great detail. We’ve gone from tense prelims to our first Elementary with receiving placings at BD level in the time that I’ve been training with her. I’m lucky that I also have my horse based at Tess’ yard on full livery, and she always has the horses welfare as the highest priority, giving me peace of mind that my horse receives 5 star care.

Myself and my daughter have both been having regular lessons with Tess. My daughter has come on so much since having one to one sessions with Tess and she so looks forward to her lessons. Tess is currently helping us bring on our young horse and we are so grateful to have her expertise right on our doorstep.
